The Tour operator plugin has been developed with a range of category types in order to help create a network of interlinking content, allowing users to easily view related posts.

General Categories #

Travel Styles #

The travel style category type is used to link accommodations with similar methods of travel. It is used by the accommodations, Destinations and Tours post type.

  • Navigate to the backend of your website
  • Hover over the custom “Tour Operator”  menu item
  • Select the “Travel Styles” option from the submenu that appears
  • Add in a new Travel Style by giving it a title (eg: Wildlife Safaris)
  • Configure the slug for the travel style (The “slug” is the URL-friendly version of the name. It is usually all lowercase and contains only letters, numbers, and hyphens.)
  • If you wish to add the travel style as a sub-travel style, select the “Parent” style you wish to assign it too (eg: A sub-travel style for “Wildlife Safaris” could be “Big-5 Safaris”)
  • Add a brief description of the travel style
  • Select the “Add New Travel Style” icon
  • Travel Styles are then added to relevant post types

Edit Travel Styles #

  1. Go to Tour Operator > Travel Styles.
  2. Click on the title of the Travel Style you wish to edit.
  3. Now you can edit the following:
    • Name
    • Slug
    • Parent Travel Style
    • Description
    • Featured Image – this will show in the Travel Style archive.
    • Banner tagline
    • Banner Video
    • Banner Image – if you have assigned a placeholder in the Tours settings, that image will display on Travel Style by default.

Destination Categories #

Continent #

The continent category type is used to link destinations by the continent they are situated on

  • Navigate to the backend of your website
  • Hover over the custom “Tour Operator”  menu item
  • Select the “Continents” option from the submenu that appears
  • Add in a new continent by giving it a title (eg: Africa)
  • Configure the slug for the location (The “slug” is the URL-friendly version of the name. It is usually all lowercase and contains only letters, numbers, and hyphens.)
  • Add a brief description of the continent
  • Select the “Add New Content” option
  • Locations are then added to relevant destinations.

Accommodation Categories #

Facilities #

The facilities category type is used to link accommodation with similar available facilities

  • Navigate to the backend of your website
  • Hover over the custom “Tour Operator”  menu item
  • Select the “Facilities” option from the submenu that appears
  • Add in a new Facility by giving it a title (eg: Pool)
  • Configure the slug for the facility (The “slug” is the URL-friendly version of the name. It is usually all lowercase and contains only letters, numbers, and hyphens.)
  • If you wish to add the facility as a sub-facility, select the “Parent” facility you wish to assign it too (eg: A sub-facility for “Pool” could be “Heated Indoor Pool”)
  • Add a brief description of the facility
  • Select the “Add New Facility” option
  • Facilities are then added to relevant accommodations

Accommodation Type #

The Accommodation Type category type is used to link accommodations with similar types of accommodation options available

  • Navigate to the backend of your website
  • Hover over the custom “Tour Operator”  menu item
  • Select the “Accommodation Types” option from the submenu that appears
  • Add in a new accommodation type by giving it a title (eg: Houseboat)
  • Configure the slug for the accommodation type (The “slug” is the URL-friendly version of the name. It is usually all lowercase and contains only letters, numbers, and hyphens.)
  • If you wish to add the accommodation type as a sub-type, select the “Parent” type you wish to assign it too (eg: A sub-accommodation type for “Houseboat” could be “Luxury Houseboat”)
  • Add a brief description of the Accommodation Type
  • Select the “Add New Accommodation Type” option
  • Accommodation types are then added to relevant accommodations

Brands #

The Brands category type is used to link accommodations run by the same brand company

  • Navigate to the backend of your website
  • Hover over the custom “Tour Operator”  menu item
  • Select the “Brands” option from the submenu that appears
  • Add in a new brand by giving it a title (eg: The Four Seasons)
  • Configure the slug for the facility (The “slug” is the URL-friendly version of the name. It is usually all lowercase and contains only letters, numbers, and hyphens.)
  • If you wish to add the brand as a sub-brand, select the “Parent” brand you wish to assign it too (eg: A sub-brand for “The Four Seasons” could be “The Four Seasons Resorts”)
  • Add a brief description of the brand
  • Select the “Add New Brand” option
  • Brands are then added to relevant accommodations
